We’re delighted to announce that our fund raising beer festival raised over £2,000 for our charity of the year.

Our marketing support ace, Marcelle galvanised support from 17 Yorkshire businesses to sponsor the festival so that all of the proceeds could be donated to Hull based charity Life for a Kid Foundation.

Talking about our charity of the year, Marcelle said: “Life for a Kid supports disadvantaged children under the age of 16 living in the Hull and East-Riding area in different ways, including the use of therapy dog, Lewis to bring comfort to sick children and those with learning disabilities.

“We are hoping to raise a great deal more for the charity during 2019 through a series of events plus proceeds from the sale of a limited edition Yorkshire Blue Cheese dressing that we launched at the Great Yorkshire Show.”

The beer festival was attended by 150 people who enjoyed an evening of live music from the Crazy Horses (whose drummer, Richard is a member of our sales team), 13 beers and ciders and great food.

One of the guests was Kate Balchin from Wold Top Brewery, who was also one of the beer sponsors. She said: “Big thanks to the Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil team for hosting a superb event to raise valuable funds for a very worthy charity. We had a great time and can’t wait for the next one!”

The charity’s founder, David Freer is overwhelmed with the amount raised: “We’re so grateful for your support and pleased that all your efforts raised such a lot of money.

“Dogs like Lewis spread a lot of happiness and provide a mental lift for those who are hospitalised or receiving medical treatment at home,” he added.

Marcelle concluded: “We had a figure in mind that we wanted to raise, and kept our fingers crossed. After all we’d never done anything like this before. We did the count up and were totally blown away by how generous everyone had been! We raised a staggering £2,340 for Nice 2b Nice and we can’t wait to handover the funds to help more children and families and put some smiles on their faces!

“We couldn’t have raised this amount without the support of our sponsors who are too many to name individually, but included Peacock and Binnington, Peter Rhodes Feed Services, GWE Biogas, Penelope Payroll, The Robert Fuller Gallery, Yorkshire Food Finder and Scothern Construction.”
