Gaynor Normanton - Breckenholme - Meet the Team feature

Time to meet another of our team, Gaynor Normanton is our person in Accounts! And it’s her job to keep everything in order in the office, and that includes us!

What is your role at Breckenholme and how long have you been part of the team?

I joined the team here 7 years ago and I am part of the Accounts team. It’s a busy job, and in the main my job is to keep in touch with our customers and suppliers and help with any account enquiries, process their invoices and payments amongst many other tasks to keep the accounts up to date for this busy business.

What is your background before joining the team here?

Before I joined the team I worked in my parents’ business as they were importers and distributors. This was a great way to learn all aspects of a business before finding a had a forte for figures and accounts, and I decided to work in a solely accounts role and working for another family business is ideal for me.

What do you love most about working in the Food & Drink industry?

Since working here I have become more adventurous with new foods and flavours – it’s just the nature of the place with passionate foodies all around! Being open to new foods and flavours has meant that I now experiment more in the kitchen. The family don’t complain – well, not too often!

We know how much you enjoy baking, particularly making some spectacular celebration cakes. What is your go to baking recipe that you can always rely on and goes down a treat?

I would certainly say that the Lemon Drizzle cake I bake for many a tea break always goes down well with the team. Our Lemon Oil makes a moist cake and full of zing! At home, my boys always opt for a brownie! They love whatever variety I bake, but their very favourite is Maraschino Cherry brownie. I’d agree it’s pretty good!

With Summer Holidays here, where is your favourite place in Yorkshire to explore with kids in tow?

That’s a difficult one! Yorkshire has so many great places to explore – there’s a good reason why it’s a favourite staycation for many, particularly this year. But if I had to choose one special place, it would be Knaresborough. I have family there and a meet up with them there always involves a new walk or place to explore. The local ice-cream is also a well-deserved treat after putting in a few miles!
