As you know, we love working with fellow family businesses to create great food. We recently teamed up with Justin and Georgina Staal from Staal Smokehouse to develop a series of party food recipes using smoked duck, trout and salmon to celebrate the festive season.
The recipes include Smoked Trout, Chilli and Coriander Mini Fishcakes, Smoked Salmon, Lemon and Caper Palmiers and Smoked Duck, Apple and Horseradish Pots with Smoked Sourdough Toasts.
Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil’s Marketing Manager, Jennie Palmer explained the rationale for the recipe creation: “Here at YRO, we’re passionate about cooking and love collaborating with the fabulous Yorkshire producers that we have on our doorstep, so it seems logical to encourage people to try new things by creating simple, delicious dishes for them to make at home.”
“We met Justin and Georgina Staal at a Farmers’ Market over a decade ago and subsequently collaborated to produce our multi-award-winning Oak Smoked Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, but this is the first time that we have created bespoke recipes using their produce. As with all quality ingredients, it was a delight to cook with and the dishes are delicious and are perfect for festive entertaining.”
Mrs Staal said: “Like the team at YRO, we try to encourage people to be more adventurous with food and do this by creating quick and easy recipes for all the family to enjoy.
“We love the sound of all three of these recipes, but particularly love the sound of the Smoked Duck, Apple and Horseradish Pots with Smoked Sourdough Toasts. We can see that they will become our go-to easy entertaining dish this Christmas.”
Staal Smokehouse uses traditional curing techniques that have been honed and perfected over hundreds of years to produce a range of smoked fish and poultry that is enjoyed in restaurants and sold online and via selected specialist retailers throughout Yorkshire.
